Ian Franklin qualified at St Mary's Hospital, London in 1990. He is a fully accredited General and Vascular Surgeon and now specialises entirely in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. His main NHS base is Charing Cross Hospital, part of Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust, and he consults privately at The Lister Hospital in Chelsea, The New Victoria Hospital in Kingston, Charing Cross Hospital and Harley Street.
Mr Franklin is an expert in the minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins. He has one of the largest practices in the UK offering a local-anaesthetic service using VNUS Closure along with other keyhole techniques. He has extensive experience of using all the main modalities for treating vein disorders including radiofrequency ablation, endovenous laser and foam sclerotherapy. He teaches and lectures at home and abroad and he is the foremost trainer of other surgeons in the technique of VNUS Closure in the UK.
Mr Franklin is an active member of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland, the European Society for Vascular Surgery, the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe and the International Society for Endovascular Surgery. He is recognised by all the major insurance companies in the UK.
Mrs Hema Rao AVS
Hema Rao is a fully accredited Vascular Scientist. She is highly experienced with particular expertise is using doppler-ultrasound (duplex scanning) to assess the veins of the lower limbs. She is an active member of the Society for Vascular Technology.

All our treatments can be performed under local anaesthetic. The only advantage of choosing a general anaesthetic is that all the treatment can be carried out in one go, rather than staged over a number of smaller treatment sessions. If you opt to have your treatment under a general anaesthetic, this would be performed by Dr Moulla. He qualified in Strasbourg in 1986 and has been a consultant anaesthetist for 13 years and a specialist vascular anaesthetist for the last 5 years. He has particular expertise with regional anaesthesia for carotid and aneurysm surgery, and is a member of the Vascular Anaesthesia Society.
